Meet Christina

It's funny, following someone's blog, but not really knowing who they are. Isn't it? I hope this page will help you to learn some more about me, about about why I do the things I do.

I am... a wife. a mommy. a photographer. a blogger {of course!}. a lover of food. a worry-wart. a gardener. a creative person. a craft and project junkie. and many other things.

I started this blog... because I was tired of hitting dead-ends online. When I made the choice to give up gluten, dairy, and soy almost two years ago, I felt very isolated. I didn't really know where to turn, and I found it hard to navigate the world of allergy-friendly cook books and websites. I occasionally stumbled on a great website that was, say, gluten free. But not dairy or soy free. Being "new" to the game, I found it hard to tangle with so many substitutes and alternate products. I knew I couldn't be the only gluten, dairy, AND soy free person out there, and so I began collecting my thoughts in preparation for sharing them with you.

I try... to parent in a way that feels right. Let's face it--I'm a "crunchy" mom. That's because that's what seems like the right choice for our family. We cloth diaper and co-sleep. Extended breastfeeding has taken place in our home. The list goes on...

I try... to make healthy choices for my family. Have we eliminated processed foods and "bad" sugar from our home? Absolutely not. But I do believe that all things should be taken in moderation. I am to cook from scratch whenever possible, and to create healthy, pleasing recipes. Sometimes I splurge and make things that just SOUND good, like my Marshmallow Crack. {I apologize!} Some of these recipes will also be right for your family, and some of them may not be. That's ok.

I take pictures with... a Canon 60D. Almost all of the images you see here on my blog have been shot with my trusty Canon and a 50mm f1.4 prime lens. I welcome you to send me your photography questions. I'll always do my best to answer them.

I have... a condition called Mal de Debarquement Syndrome. For well over a year, I have lived with the near-constant sensation of movement. Much like being on a boat, or in an airplane. {read more about MdDS here}

I am grateful for... my life. my husband. my kiddo. the baby boy I never met. our home. our fur-ball cats and the crazy chickens who live in our back yard. chocolate. companies who work HARD to provide allergy-friendly goodies. my family. photography. friends. tea. and definitely cookies ;)
